The Leningrad Cowboy 0 Posted January 11, 2006 OK. I have had both my garage and vince at Stealth tell me that my ABS pump is the reason for the warning light staying on. I have sourced a second hand pump to replace the duff part, but my garage has told me that they would need to reprogramme the ECU with a new code only available from VAG. Has anyone replaced the pump and had to touch or not had to touch the ECU? I've had a search, but can't see anything that I can understand applies directly to this. I have a '94 VR6. Any help appreciated. MoT in a month, and I don't fancy the £1700 VAG want. Cheers.
Supercharged 2 Posted January 11, 2006 We talking about the ABS ECU - sounds like bollocks to me!
The Leningrad Cowboy 0 Posted January 11, 2006 Well, I might think so too, but another garage I went to who are supposed to be VW knowledgable also said there could be issues with an incorrect code... I suppose I could just get they to swap it over and see what happens.
RW1 0 Posted January 12, 2006 but my garage has told me that they would need to reprogramme the ECU with a new code only available from VAG. News to me. Pump and ABS ECU don't need matching other than it should if it includes the valve block be the traction control type, ie. same number of pipe connections. .
