Nick 0 Posted February 17, 2006 For the last week ive been driving with no door card in my drivers door, and ive noticed that, along with all the crap at the bottom of the door, there are holes in it too! They dont look bodged in or anything, but its letting in water, enough to make me wonder whether its a good thing or not. Pic attached to show hole and moisture (oo-er!)
Not_Aircooled_or_Taxfree 0 Posted February 17, 2006 Are they in the bottom of the door? If they are the ones i think they are then they are meant to be there. They let the water out from the door when it runs in from the window rubber. The idea is that the inside of the door has a plastic sheeting protecting the door cards from the water. The best thing you can do is remove all the dirt and crap in the door and make sure the holes vent the water away correctly. In my only golf i had to replace this sheeting. I did it with pallet-wrap/clingfilm did the job ok in the end
Nick 0 Posted February 17, 2006 OK, i prefer by the plastic you mean the white membrane stuff, that i had to peel back (and just removed) in order to remove my door handle. I think I was more alarmed by the sight of all the wet crap at the bottom more than the holes, but i guess it is a 14 year old car, and the membrane looked factory, so its not too bad! Not_Aircooled_or_Taxfree 0 Posted February 17, 2006 Yes, membrane is such a dirty word so i used plastic. It is interesting what stuff you find in there!
