NickRStorm 0 Posted February 27, 2006 That's a classic slow puncture scenario. The tyre walls rub & generate so much heat that they literally burn the walls away. In many ways it's nastier than a blow-out because you wind up on the rims before you know what's happened. I have had 2 of these in 30 years of driving. It's bl**dy scary when it happens! Sounds like this bloke was lucky that he made it to the hard shoulder. Now I always stop & check if I hear or feel anything unusual in the tyre department.
