MT 0 Posted September 3, 2003 I have just noticed that when i turn my headlights on the oil temp readings on the MFA rise by like 10-20 degrees!! then they rise again if i turn the fog lights on! As soon as i turn the lights off the temp returns to the normal readings again!! anyone else experienced this or any ideas as to what is causing it?? Henny 0 Posted September 4, 2003 Check and clean the sensor and headlight ground connections perhaps? Skye I agree, sounds like a bad earth to me too... check earths in Dashboard and also check for dry joints on the circuit board on the dash. Also it's always worth replacing the battery earth strap that goes to the bodywork and then onto the gearbox end of the engine, they tend to oxidise (go green) and stop giving a nice earth.... I'd bet on a dry joint being your problem though... :? 8)

2cc 0 Posted September 5, 2003 From the description I'd be more inclined to suspect this was a voltage regulator problem in the MFA/inst cluster. I haven't any wiring detail info so can't offer any help with it, just a thought
spoier 0 Posted September 5, 2003 What else is run on the voltage regulator? Do any of those other gauges fluctuate or just oil temp? Skye
dogpa 0 Posted October 18, 2003 Mine does the same thing. Have you found the source of our woes yet?
pauljs17 0 Posted October 18, 2003 Mine does this as well. The temp will jump 10-15 degrees. I tried to figure it out for a while but gave up.
