any k jet 16v kr EXPERTS here??

Recommended Posts

okay i have a KR engined golf, its always reved rather hard on start up and ive never been able to cure it( tried messing with fuel pressure, new isv,isv control, wur etc)

anyway today i thought id start it with the isv red black wire undone to see if it keeps the revs down, and on start up the revs shot round to 2-3 k and wouldnt settle ....i plugged the isv in and it dropped back

my question is  does that sound like incorrect cold fuel presure? as the idle is 900 when warm without the isv plugged in

Hmmm, interesting. Have you tried stripping and cleaning the fuel distribution unit? My 1.8 16v used to idle very high after being thrashed for a while. It turned out that the plunger was gummed up and not returning properly.

Do you happen to remember what the control pressure reading was when you tested it?

i cant remeber the pressures it was set to, the system pressure was in spec, and i ajusted the wur with a wideband connected so that when hot its was running good

tbh i think the cold fuel pressure is wrong...as it wanted to rev hard with no isv until it warmed up

Try disconnecting the black/red wire by the coil, then set the tick over via the screw to about 1000rpm

Im running mine without an isv at the moment

doesent sound like a fuel pressure issue,

however set the control pressure to 48psi at idle when warm with a gauge,,

sounds like idle control unit,, although you have tried it,, what are the temp sender connections like on the side of the head also,,

senders are all good

i think the isv is working as it should....its holding the revs down when its conected and the engine is cold
