Slow Central Locking(and Unlocking)

Im struggling with where to put this one i suppose technically its interior but not in the cockpit so im going with exterior.

 

Anyway, my central locking is slow, i push the button on the keyfob or open the door key in lock styley (the result is the same) and i have to wait a few seconds before the car unlocks. My question is this, do I need a new pump or is it likely to be something else, as I dont wanna spend loads of cash on labour for somone to work out what it is if i dont have to. The stealers love their exploritory labour charges!
