gears on my corrado vr6

hi i have a problem with the gears on my vr6 corrado 5th gear is very hard to select and will not go in atall just grineds when i try! any help on this would be great phil :?

hello pipmar246, welcome to the forum fella, you could try lifting the gear lever gaitor up and check for a missing circlip, it restrains sideways movement on the mechanism, if it`s missing you`ll see what i mean - common problem

thanks mate but i have tryed that not sure if my gearbox is shot or if its the cables anyone else had this prob??

have you checked the gear linkages on the box for any slop in it`s operation ? you`ll need to get someone to move the gear lever about whilst you check it out :thumbleft:

yeh done that today with my dad when the cars not running and he moves the gear stick it stiffens up and is very difficult to move, soon as we start the car again it slackens off! does that sound like its my linkage? thanks again for your info

always better to try with the engine running, it helps with engagement, have you had a mooch through the search option ^^ up there like

yeh will try that tomorrow mite just renew the cables hopefully its a cheap fix fingers crossed

would be nicer price wise, i hope thats all it is mate :thumbleft:, i assume the clutch is doing it`s job properly ?
