White2505 0 Posted June 9, 2006 figured it was about time I did a bit about my C here she is:- a 1988 G plate 1.8 16 valve bought around october 2005. all the usual problems, spoiler didn't work, sunroof (still) doesn't work :( , various lumps and bumps on the body work from nearly 20 years of car parks and the 161,000 on the clock. bought as she had had a rebuild 11,000 miles previously and was lowered approx 80mm she also had been treated to a 2 litre bottom end. Went in for her mot and failed (no surprise  ) due to front wheels fouling the bodywork on full lock. replaced the springs with 40mm lowered versions. The ride was dramatically improved but I prefer the old look with the 80mm drop! Then just before christmas disaster struck the number one bearing on the crank failed lunching the crank and number 1 conrod :x . over new year I sourced a 2 litre ABF bottom end. This went to my local engineering firm for a complete rebuild along with the head. Whilst they were refitting the engine and getting it all sorted the dizzy failed blowing the ecu, then the ignition switch failed while the garage was sorting the failed dizzy and ecu adding another problem into the fault finding mix. anyway I finally got her back this week having thrown obscene amounts of money at her. so the old girl is now a 2.0 abf bottom end with kr head and cams, mercedes injectors, modified airbox (although this may get junked for something a little more funky in due course!) plans include:- trip to stealth to set up the old girl once I've run the new engine in with the wur mod done at the same time :D . blue dash and switches with the red lcd mod. exhaust cam mod full grey leather interior 90mm chin spoiler (wanted asap so if you have one cheap pm me!) sort the bodywork (not looking for a20lee standards but straight and all one colour without the bumper scrapes would be nice :D ) and if I come into some real money I'd love to turbo the old girl . still running her in ( only got 100 miles on her since the rebuild ) but she shows promise! due to a distinct lack of funds post rebuild I'm doing all the cheap and cheerful stuff currently. White2505 0 Posted June 11, 2006 This week I have mostly been...... changing the dash to give blue light and doing the oichan mod to the lcd. Polarising filter has been reversed and blue filter inserted. not entirely happy with the lcd currently so more work needed but the blue dash lighting is nice! gaz the geezer 0 Posted June 11, 2006 hello White2505, looks like you`ve been a bit busy just lately :) , you know it will be all worth it when she`s all sorted, i`ve a mountain to climb myself but i`m not downhearted ......... just trying to find time to crack on and get it done, it would be nice to see a few more pics when you get the time mate :thumbleft:
White2505 0 Posted June 11, 2006 thanks mate, the wait has been worthwhile to get the old girl back knowing that the engine is basically fully rebuilt and once run in can be given some welly without constantly worrying about which bit will go next! I'm off to london next week to do the outlaws thing :( but the upside is the C will be pretty much run in by the time I get back. Then its of to stealth for a little fine tuning :))

White2505 0 Posted June 11, 2006 I'm in Barnstaple, North Devon. so I have a nice cross country a road drive from here to the M3 and then onto Kingston where the outlaws are. by the time I get back the C should be ready for a quick once over by the garage that did the rebuild and then off to stealth for some proper tweeking. I see from your signature your VR6 is 'under repair' is it serious or just the usual on-going issues that all C's seem to suffer?
gaz the geezer 0 Posted June 11, 2006 see from your signature your VR6 is 'under repair' is it serious or just the usual on-going issues that all C's seem to suffer? it all started with replacing the rear axle bushes and it all sort of got out of control from there  , on top of that, i`ve a midnight blue vr6 that will require a bit of work and that is for the missus to mooch about in :thumbleft: , it should be a nice drive over from where you are up to the `smoke`, i travel in and out of london quite a bit myself with work, anyhoo, as your probaly aware, stealth come highly recommended so i`m sure you`ll enjoy the drive back even more after it`s been fiddled with 8)
White2505 0 Posted June 13, 2006 okay bits I've done recently. fitted the de-badged grill with eyebrow spoiler, just fitted the audi guage pod in the centre console in place of the ashtray. (just need to spend a fortune on the two senders to do the oil temp and 5bar pressure now!!). New black aeriel ordered to replace the sh**e aluminium thing already on it. investigated the heating system to find out why I can't get any air through the upper air vents (wished I hadn't as I now see that the gear that controls the flap to redirect the air to the upper vents has broken) MORE MONEY!
