A49 heading south - any good for bikes?

I am touring from durham to Newquay on the fazer starting tomorrow, was just wanting some opinions on the A49? I have picked a route on the map that takes me down that road, then over the toll bridge and into what I call 'the bottom left bit of the country' lol
