dav 0 Posted June 26, 2006 When turning the steering wheel in my MK3 I can hear a creaking sound, so I looked in the engine bay as for some reason I suspected the top mounts. I could see them move and the sound seemed to come from the moving mounts, so are the knackered or do the just need to be tightened, because I don’t think they should move should they? Thanks D. coolrado 0 Posted June 26, 2006 the metal top plate should turn when you turn the steering as its on a bearing, but if the rubber bit underneath the metal top plate twists then the top mount bearings will be siezed. Quote Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
