1st rado for me

Help Please

Recommended Posts

Hi Guys

I have just brought a 1990 1.8 16v rado, and don't know much about them.

I have been looking everywhere for a haynes manual or something along the lines to help me work on the car.

I am looking at carrying out the following jobs clutch master and slave cylinder, new discs and pads all round and new exhaust are the any other parts that I should have a good look at that may be likely to be worn and need replacing.

Also if any one knows of a good specialist garage close to Bristol that would be great.

Thanks

No haynes manual for the Corrado, but the golf covers all the engine parts/brakes etc.

Grant Motorsport is in Bristol too.

Welcome to the forum by the way! :D

The closest manual to the 1.8 16v Corrado is the Haynes manual for the Mk2 Golf. However, the Golf uses a cable clutch and a rod-change gearbox so it won't help you much with that particular job!

Thanks guys any ideas where the best place to get decent parts at resonable prices??

I am only trying to get the car running right to get me to work for the next 6 months then I plan to rebuild the engine and get the car as close to showroom condition as possible so lots of hard work ahead.

Depending on mileage, and whether they've already been done, you may want to look at suspension/bushes mine was tired in that dept by 80k, but still going good at 164k now.

I did have the clutch master go on me, so got the slave done at the same time  reads a bit dodgy!

Euro Carparts and GSF are good sources for parts, you can always ask as the need arises!!

to cover just about every job you need to do to a Corrado you should buy 2 haynes manuals:

MKII Golf

Passat 88-92

with these two, you should be able to work out how to do just about everything you'd need to do to a Corrado other than a few wiring bits and pieces which are Corrado only...

I have found PC motors in Horfield to offer quality service at a good price.

I'll second that. We've taken the VR there a few times.

haha i was gonna reply where to get OEM parts cheap but uh... i guess well they wouldn't really be cheap being shipped from the US haha

yeh i would say get a bentley manual... but honestly, once you work your way around the car and if you have any general car knoewledge you don't need it... if you need tq specs or something PM me and i would be more than willing to look them up for you, i can't remember the last time i used mine... i know G60's better than i know how to count to 10...
