HELP!!! drivers seat wobble

howdy, im a newie here and my MOT is cummin up.

i heard that a wobbly drivers seat is a failure so i got hold of a seat retaing clip, but where do i put it to stop the seat wobbling.

What do you mean by wobbly? Does the whole seat and frame rock?

 

Could just be one of the white plastic runners that's come off the rear legs but that shouldn't make it rock terribly.

wobbles side to side mostly. and the two springs have snapped.

imagine you hold the seat on both sides it moves left and rigt slightly

The rear legs of the seats that slide into the runners have plastic white clips that attach to the legs before you slide the legs into the runners....

 

Usually if they are broken or worn you will get wobble on the seat fo site to side....

 

Your either missing them both or just one has broken...

 

Replace them and all should be ok... These are qute universal so ones from a Mk1 or Mk2 golf will fit too..

and to make matters worse while i was dismantling the seat a seagull released its bowels all over the just bin polished paint work :mad:

The Base of the 2 legs that slide in the runners...

 

They clip onto the feet of the chair then, slide the leg into the runner...

cheers ben16v ive encounted another problem mot is wednesday, and im missing one retaing clip both of those springs and that plastic thing at the front of the seat mechansim.

is ne body out there selling ne of these bits. Please im a charity case in direr need of help.

Make sure you have the wierd orange rubbery bit at the front in, else that will make it wobble aswell

thats the thing im missing seat has a bit of play in it ne body got one kicking around

for info the side runner ones are sided - ie inner and outer...

If the whole seat is wobbling then it is likely the white plastic runner covers. If its just the seatback then it is probably something else. Funny thing about those white plastic runner covers is that the part numbers are different for each side so make sure you get the correct ones and put them on the correct side.
