CORRADO CARBURATED TURBO

HI, I HAVE A CORRADO PROJECT, OF A TURBO, BUT ITS CARBURATED, IM TRYING A DRAWTROUGH TURBO SYSTEM, MY QUESTION IS, DO I HAVE TO PUT THE TURBO ABOVE THE ENGINE? SO THE GAS COMMIN OF THE TURBO FROM THE CARBURATOR STILL GETS THE ENGINE WHILE THE TURBO ISNT SPINNING, LIKE THE FIRST TIME IN THE MORNING WHEN URE GOING TO STARTED.??? :?: :?: :?: :?: :?:

if it's a draw-through turbo, the turbo can still be anywhere in the enginebay (preferably as close to the exhaust outlet of the head as possible to reduce lag) and the pipework for the carb feed just comes from there as normal. The idea of a draw-through turbo (or supercharger for that matter) is that they allow air to be pulled through them when they aren't making positive boost pressure so the engine can be normally aspirated until the charger spins up to make boost...

 

You HAVE to use a proper sealed carb specc'd for turbo use though, else it'll just leak the charge from around the spindles when under pressure from the turbo and not run properly...

look out for a reno 5 turbo carb rejetted. this should fuell enough.

ok i have my carb sealed, with carbon seal, but really do u think the engine will pull the gas from the carbuetor if the turbo is not above the engine??? because this week im going to put it, but i dont want to mess it. :?:

If your using draw through, you can use any old carb as the carb doesn't have presurised air in it as its before the turbo. Trouble with draw through is you have a really long path from the carb to the engine and you get fuel drop out. Not sure i'd be too keen on a draw through system on a turbo as the turbo inlet side can still get very hot. Draw through is more common on superchargers.

 

Having the turbo blow through the carb means you don't get these problems but you then need a sealed carb.

 

TBH, for all the hassle with getting carbs jetted right on a turbo i'd just stick mappable management on it, such as megasquirt.

HI MAN, IM LOOKIN TO BOOST MY RRADO, PLEASE TELL ME HOW, I HAVE A WEBBER CARBURETOR, 2.0 BLOCK, 1.8 HEAD, AND A TD04 JUST WAITIN TO BE INSTALLED,!!!!
