I did it! Yay!

Recommended Posts

Ok, this is going to be obvious and quite stupid to some of you but I'm chuffed!

Had a bit of a misfire and it had being narrowed down to either the ht lead (which was 6 month old!) or a spark plug/s.

This is the simple bit I'm chuffed with myself! 8)

Removed all the HT leads with the tool (never done that before!) and after borrowing the correct socket set removed all the spark plugs. 1 was covered in deposits and one had a crack in the porcelain??? (the white bit).

Replaced those two and she runs sweet now! :) :) :) :)

Now I know how easy that particular job is, but my point is;

I've managed to fix my own car! Yay! :D

Whats next! Engine conversion!

It's massively satisfying, no matter how small a job it is!

Be a good time to change the air filter too. Ohhh, and the oil too, you could be on a roll ;)

Did you buy the spark-plug socket? Handy tool indeedy

Most VW specialists don't want to do the sunroof although I could practice on yours to fix mine because mines the same! :(

Had a service at PSI a week and a half ago so everything else was done. Sparks were only 6 months old.

...or it could be a Clarkson style 'race' between us

luckily, in the words of my local specialist "work is work"... so my wallet will soon be £375 lighter

Can only agree with this statement.....bit of pressure and the socket breaks.....fook fook fook!!!! sure we all know it well.

Whats the best socket set to go for? Standard Halfrauds job?

My old engineering tutor used to say

"buy cheap stuff, when it breaks replace the individual tools with good ones and you'll have a tool kit that didn't cost the earth, but can do all that hard stuff"

By the way, I reccommend a breaker bar and a BIG hammer!!!

But if you buy allfrauds pro stuff (or draper expert, or snap on etc) and manage to break it, they'll replace it without need for reciepts etc.

ive changed my own suspension and a load of stuff on my car including the sump etc etc, but i still find changing the plugs, more over getting the actually leads back on without pulling them back out removing the tool, one of the most frustrating chores on the car!

so thumbs up, and also halfords pro stuff rocks.

I must admit, a couple of ones I had to try a few times!

And one of the spark plugs was so tight I thought I'd snap the thing!
