Nick 0 Posted August 25, 2006 There are 8 studs that attach the exhaust manifold to the block. It appears that 3 of 8 studs wont 'grip' or 'screw' once in the block, so im assuming that it has been cross threaded, but personally ive never come across this due to lack of diy practice. lol. I bought some new studs, but it appears that its actually inside the block bit has de-threaded. Any suggestions, as im buggered? I do have a welder friend coming to help tomorrow, and suggestions so far is to either weld the stud in place (:shock: - seems like a bad idea?!) or try and re-thread the block, but then id need different, larger studs, and would need to enlarge the manifold hole too. GazzaG60 0 Posted August 25, 2006 helicoil is one option. it involves putting an insert into the hole once drilled out bigger and screwing into that. like a wall plug. you could try and find some bolts with tapered shoulders going to a bigger thread or smaller shaft on the stud Quote Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

mr_fusion 0 Posted August 29, 2006 I would go with the helicoil option as they are well easy to fit and are rock solid if done correctly.
