wcrado 0 Posted October 6, 2006 wanted some advice on whether you can adjust the sweep at all on a single wiper kit? my missus has just bought a mk2 gti and it came with a single wiper, which is fine, but the wiper at rest sits right in the middle of the screen, which mite be ok for some but neither of us are that keen! what we'd ideally like is for it to sit at a 30 degree-ish angle on the passenger side. initially i just tried unbolting the wiper arm and re-bolting it at the required angle, but of course the wiper still thinks it has a 50/50 sweep, so when i tested it, it cleared half of the drivers screen and then cleared all the passenger side and half of the scuttle panel and bonnet as well! is there any way of adjusting it so it has a 70/30 sweep or similar? so i can have the arm rested nicely over the other side but still see when it rains? the make of the kit is unknown i'm afraid, but i'd like to get advice before i attempt anything or i know i'll break something cheers! catch_twotwo 0 Posted October 9, 2006 It's usually setable into three positions (I think) IF you remove the wiper linkage and reset it then you can reseat the wiper blade and it should work fine.
flusted 0 Posted October 10, 2006 yeah, undo the 10mm nut that holds linkage to motor, then swing linkage round till the arm is parked where you want it,then bolt it back down
wcrado 0 Posted October 10, 2006 cheers dude! thought it would be simple, but i've learnt it's better to find out what i need to do before i touch anything, otherwise it's a trip to the scrapyard to pick up replacements for the parts i broke
