Charging problem... its a weird one

Recommended Posts

Hiya peoples, jus wondered if anyone else has had the same problem as me, i've used the search but found nothing so far....

I've got no 12v feed from the blue cable to the alternator, i think this cable passes though the battery light on the dash. Which would make sense because i've never seen it light up! Putting the cable to earth doesnt make the light come on either

So i've had to make up my own feed to start the alternator charging, but i've got no battery light at the moment and plugging in a cable everytime i get in the car gets a bit tedious. I lost count the amount of times i've forgotten to unplug it and came back to a flat battery :(

Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!!

Hi

Look at the top of the starter motor. Do you see a sort of cuboid connector sitting on top of it. On mine there is a wire from there to the alternator.

Hi

According to the passat diagram, it should go via the headlamp looms to pin 1 of A2 yellow connector on the fuse box.

well i got the fusebox out but jesus its a mess

the wiring diagram i got says pin 1 of A2 as well so its gotta be correct and theres no cable there

think it must've been pulled out before when the corrado has had numerous other faults in its life. looked for the cable for ages but couldnt find it, its just such a mess!!!

probably gonna run a new one at some point but it was gettin dark so i gave up for today.... at least we're gettin somewhere now...
