Robo's Rado

Rado wont start !...6 Weeks in the garage ...help !

Recommended Posts

This bl00dy Rado's gona get torched !

As the weather got cold my 1994 2L 16V started cutting out in the mornings. It started on the button but if you took your foot off the gas it cut out. By the time i got to the end of the road it would run but the revs were a bit low and after 1-2 miles it was spot on . I could then leave it all day with no problem. Once warm it ran spot on !

This started to bug me so i took it to a local VW specialist to get sorted. First off they changed the Lambda sensor and a split hose, £265 thanks….. but when I got it back it was worse than ever and the next morning failed to start at all. It turned over but wouldn’t catch. After getting it towed back to the garage they have changed the Injectors, ISV and tried a second hand metering unit. Luckily ive access to another Rado so when they wanted to fit a new pressure actuator I borrowed one to try…. saving a couple of hundred £, while I had the other car they also swapped the cold start valve and ECU.

Its now been in the garage for 6 weeks and still wont start when cold.

Is there anything obvious they could have missed, they have done a fuel pressure test, which was fine.

Im getting desperate, its my only car and I need to get it back, any help or ideas much appreciated !!!

Yeh, ive had a look through the forum and theres a few ideas like blocked return lines but i was wondering if anybody else has had a similar problem or why it would stop starting after the garage had changed the lambda probe... ????
