Roof aerial

Hi all, my roof aerial base has rotten but VW only sell the complete unit. Does anyone know of a replacement base that would be suitable? Also does the original aerial wire detach at the base of the amplifier or does the entire lead need to be routed through the car if I bought a new one?

Do you just need the gasket? - I think VAGParts so a repair kit...

...and the lead just plugs in underneath headlining

So how many hours labour do you think I should be charged? And yes, i just need the gasket (plastic bit round the base)

easy fix, pull the plastic trim at the rear of the roof once you've climbed in the boot, pull the headling down a little unplug the ariel and booster cable undo the (17mm or 19mm cant remember) nut and the ariel is out

 

i wouldnt pay to have that done tbh

I was quoted 2 hrs labour for this at £28 per hour by a bodyshop!!!

Yeah - deffo one to do yourself, especially as it involves interior stuff - need adjustable spanniel, some polish to clean the roof, maybe some insulation tape...

Cheers for the help guys, I've also found the repair kit on VAg parts - £10.95 instead of £60 plus at the stealers.
