A VAG heater matrix is around £110 and GPC about £40ish IIRC. Have you you cleared all the leaves from the scuttle area as it is known to cause leaks.

When I got the car 2005 I cleared about two carrry bags full of leaves out of teh scuttle cover.....I'll investigate again....the thing is the coolant level is slightly down in the bottle and the car is suffering terribly from condensation???Although there is still plenty of warm air available

It's probably just the gasket under the blower intake in the scuttle panel that's allowing the water past. Remove the vent, apply liberal amounts of sealer and refit. Once the carpet's wet it'll make the windows steam up.

Checked the scuttle cover, lifted the carpets, sprayed water on the door windscreen etc , ran the car with blowers full power hot-cold----No leak. I think I know what the problem is is though?????During the holidays I drove through a puddle about 1.5 feet deep. I think there has been an ingress of water that I didn't notice at the time and this is where the water has come from!!!!!!!!!

I had same thing on my car. Turned out to be leaves in the skuttle making water build up and come in. Since I cleared it its been sweet as a nut! :D
