corrado gearchange not what it should be ?

i have just purchased a corrado g60 , after previously owning a corrado 16v a few years back with alot higher milage , but the gearchange on the g60 is s*** , indicisive , sloppy , struggle to select to correct gear . is it an easy fix ? any one offer advise ? sorry if this subject has come up previous , new to the site !

slop in gearstick could be a missing circlip, lift the gearstick surround, it just pulls off, and wiggle the stick left to right you should see the place on the lhs where the circlip should be/is
