dubbprince 0 Posted October 18, 2003 ok first up...my total closure function on my toad Ai606 doesn't seem to work when i hold buttons 3+4 down! any ideas?? how do i take the centre console up...i mean from dash all the way to the rear passenger area...i want to run amp wiring and RCA's down to the boot throught the centre tunnel. also...would anyone fancy re-soldering bright blue LEDs into the exsisting electric mirrors switchs, sunroof switch and spoiler switch...so 5 in total! i'd pay of course... Cheers! Sanjay.
Danger Mouse 0 Posted October 18, 2003 Not sure about the 1st and 3rd questions but iv ran a wire down the centre console for my mini-disc changer, its really easy. You need to take quite a lot of screws out and comes apart in many many sections. If you look closely at all the joins you will see the screws you need to remove. Also you need to remove the rear armrest. Ill have a proper look in the morning and remind myself them ill PM you, unless someone beats me to it on here. DM Hope you get the other 2 sorted out too. dubbprince 0 Posted October 18, 2003 great...cheers DM! i look forward to hearing from you, i thought i'd ask as knowing someone on here they have done an amp installation on here and know where to feed the amp wire through the firewall too! the console must be easy to take apart..but i thought i;d as k as the door cards were a right job to take off!
h100vw 0 Posted October 19, 2003 You shouldn't run AMP power and RCAs next to each other. The power can introduce intereference in the RCAs and lower the quality of the sound. Its far better to run them down under the sill covers, on both sides of the car. There are plenty of grommets in the bulkhead under the coolant expansion tank. Ideal for battery feeds. Make sure that you fuse it as close as possible to the battery to prevent that 'warm all over sensation'! Gavin PS I don't know anything about Toads. dubbprince 0 Posted October 19, 2003 Thanks for that, i was thinking the 5inch gap between RCA's running down the drivers side, tucked under the centre console... and power wire running down the passengers side tucked under the console again. I take it its too close then, i'm aware of interference..but i didn't think it would be that bad. How easy is it to lift off the sill covers? they felt like plastic to me...which i'm afraid of breaking. The power lead is 4Gauge! its about 1.2cm thick! then 3sets of RCA'S! which combined together are atleast 4-5cm thick! Thanks for letting me know about the grommets...i'll have a go. any more ideas? cheesy 0 Posted October 19, 2003 i'm running 4 gauge down the passenger side of car, the sill covers are plastic with plastic push clips underneath, u just have to be carefull. work out where each clip is and pull up where it is. I had all my rcas down the centre tunnel last yr, my rcas were similar thickness to 4 gauge, its very tight behind the dash.
dubbprince 0 Posted October 19, 2003 thanks cheesy, i'll run the power lead down passenger side then and RCA's through centre tunnel. Working out where the plasic clips are on the sill cover are gonna be a problem. does it stay down still then? also, i'm gonna be running a 180watt 2 channel amp, a 400watt 4 channel amp and lastly a 900watt bridged amp for a bass box. i'll be using the 4gauge then using a distribution block to split it into 8gauge for each amp. do i need a bigger battery (its a halfords stock one)...or do i need a bigger alternator? i've heard power caps don't do much...as light flashing/dimming still occurs with them. cheesy 0 Posted October 19, 2003 when u try and lift it off u will c where the pressure is on the location of pins if this makes sense. with running more than 2 amps u really want a second battery on a split charger system. U may b able to get away with a heavy duty front and bigger alternatot but don't think this will solve it fully. its all to do with the load on the battery. Power caps are usefull, they store the volts to keep the sub amp at full power rather than draining it straight off the battery and cause diming/flashing same when u don't use one. I use a heavy duty front, standard alternator, split charger system, second battery in boot, 2X 2 channels DLS, 1X twin mono DlS and power cap, i know the rating on my mono block runs at 1200rms at 1ohm, not sure on the 2 channels but looking around 260rms+ Don't have any problems See if your amps will accept 4 gauge as this will allow more current thru
Bally 0 Posted October 20, 2003 Hey sanj, cheers I was about to put a post up about running power cables for amps, need some sounds in the car... Hows the car coming then? did you get all the bits done etc???
dubbprince 0 Posted October 20, 2003 i have still got to put the red rear lights on, my powerflow zorst is sitting polished up ready to go on...and door cards are off to be custom made. just got a heck of a lot of wiring to put in and false floors to build for the maps i have. Bally- what sub you goin for?? i can't decide between: 2x 12" Alpine Type R's...1 15" Vibe or alpine...or just one 12" bass box. and amp to match the power. but for now i'm just having comps up front and changing dash speakers. i've managed to re-solder all switches to bright blue too. It looks damn sweet mate.
