Urgent Help - 2.0 16 valve please read

Today i went out for a drive and the car was fine, but it didnt seem to be quite as powerful. we stopped somewhere and we got back in the car after about 30 mins and set off home. After a few mins the car lost all power and when you touched the accelerator there was a really loud rattle. The exhaust also seemed to be noticably louder.

 

I pulled over to see if anything was loose etc, i revved the engine with the throttle cable and the noise seemed to be coming from the inlet manifold.

 

We carried on but when we stopped at traffic lights the car was shaking and vibraring really badly, car also stank of fuel.

 

I have replaced the water pump last week and the stat.

 

 

Can anybody suggest anything??

check the spark plugs,its sounds like ones come/blown out

well it was the head gasket it had blown a hole between cylinders 1 &2.

The mechanic couldnt belive it because it has melted the alloy of the cylinder head.

Can it be blobbed up and re-skimmed or is it done for?

its done for luckly i got one from flusted on here will be with me tomorrow.

Nah cant afford to run one at the moment. 50 mile round trip to work everyday + a mortgage and baby on the way. I will get another in the future though. looking at getting a mk2 golf.
