JofDigital 0 Posted February 19, 2007 Hey all Have a standard VW alarm fitted to my '94 VR (scorpion??) but only got one key and fob with the car. Wouldn't mind having a spare incase if stupidity so does anyone know if it's as easy as going to the stealers to get a spare? Any help appreciated Cheers Jof
JofDigital 0 Posted February 21, 2007 Just got back from the stealers and the alarm and parts are now obsolete Any reccommendations for a cheapish aftermarket job that does total closure? Cheers Jof
Jim 2 Posted February 21, 2007 My stealer told me that, if you could find a replacement (read 2nd hand) fob, they could actually remove the alarm unit and send it and the keyfob back to Scorpian for recoding....
A1 VR6 0 Posted February 21, 2007 I have 2 spare fobs as I've now had a new alarm fitted. You can have one if you want and I'll keep the other in case anyone else needs one. PM me your name and address and I'll send it unless your located fairly close and would pick it up.
Jim 2 Posted February 21, 2007 Ooh ooh! Can I have the other spare one Bill? :) I've only got one fob! :(
A1 VR6 0 Posted February 21, 2007 Pretty please Jim lol! Course you can. Do you want it now or maybe CCGB AGM if you can wait. I think I've also got a copy of the instruction manual if you want it. Just tell me how you manage to get insured now with that alarm as it's no longer Cat1 which is why I had to change it.
Jim 2 Posted February 21, 2007 Sorry! I forgot the please! My apologies - i'm not that badly mannered normally :) Well I asked Churchill what proof I needed to provide for insurance approval.. they said a cert or written approval from my VW stealer. My VW stealer wrote a letter that said it was an original VW CAT1 approved alarm and that they had tested it, and sent that to me on VW letter headed paper. Churchill were happy with that! :)
A1 VR6 0 Posted February 21, 2007 Jim, You omitted to tell me if you want it now. If so PM your name and address and I'll pop it in the post. If CCGB AGM is ok I'll bring it with me. Bill
