Standard fit alarm - replacement fobs??

Hey all

 

Have a standard VW alarm fitted to my '94 VR (scorpion??) but only got one key and fob with the car. Wouldn't mind having a spare incase if stupidity so does anyone know if it's as easy as going to the stealers to get a spare?

Just got back from the stealers and the alarm and parts are now obsolete

 

Any reccommendations for a cheapish aftermarket job that does total closure?

My stealer told me that, if you could find a replacement (read 2nd hand) fob, they could actually remove the alarm unit and send it and the keyfob back to Scorpian for recoding....

I have 2 spare fobs as I've now had a new alarm fitted. You can have one if you want and I'll keep the other in case anyone else needs one. PM me your name and address and I'll send it unless your located fairly close and would pick it up.

Course you can. Do you want it now or maybe CCGB AGM if you can wait. I think I've also got a copy of the instruction manual if you want it.

 

Just tell me how you manage to get insured now with that alarm as it's no longer Cat1 which is why I had to change it.

Sorry! I forgot the please! My apologies - i'm not that badly mannered normally :)

 

Well I asked Churchill what proof I needed to provide for insurance approval.. they said a cert or written approval from my VW stealer. My VW stealer wrote a letter that said it was an original VW CAT1 approved alarm and that they had tested it, and sent that to me on VW letter headed paper.

 

Churchill were happy with that! :)
