Nuggit 0 Posted February 21, 2007 Just wondering this, it's struck me that I keep seeing these on VW's, and not locally... Anyone any ideas?!

vwdeviant 0 Posted February 21, 2007 Garages can buy batches of numbers from DVLA, hence you ssaw a lot of *JO suffixed plates around Aylesbry... Think it also had to do with registering office, just more complex than the current plates...
Nuggit 0 Posted February 21, 2007 vwd ... see, the weird thing is, URN should be (in my understanding) a specific area, if not supplying dealer. But my car's from Sheffield, I know another one from North Wales, there's one that was reg'd round here... I give up! It's all very confusing. Edit : And it *seems* to be only VW's! .. (but in fairness, I notice them more)

jonnyboyo 0 Posted February 22, 2007 Yup thats right. The letters do denote the area the car was/is registered. I have an old Escort with CCK. These letters are for Preston & the Fylde and the car was registered in Blackpool (Fylde).
