dukest 0 Posted February 28, 2007 was reading through some of the tyre threads today and saw a post from dinkus saying that rubber that has sat around for a while will be well past it.. picked up some wheels recently that have not been used for 2-3 years but have good tread on their BF Goodrich Profiler Gs. will these be on their way out now or will i still get some decent use out of them? cheers :)
vr6storm 0 Posted February 28, 2007 should be ok as long as the sidewalls ain't cracked or perishing
KieranM 0 Posted February 28, 2007 I think it depends, but if they've been out in the elements (sun then rain and cold etc...) then might not be very good to use...
dukest 0 Posted March 1, 2007 guess i need to get some pressure into them and see how they look then perhaps..
Toad 0 Posted March 1, 2007 Was a car sat on them? With the tyres deflated prod the sidewalls to try to find any hard areas. If in doubt, replace with new. the last thing you want is the tyres to delaminate when you're hooning down the motorway...
biggrim 0 Posted March 1, 2007 Speaking from personal experience I wouldn't use them. I had 2 tyres sitting in my garage on alloys that were only 2 months old before sitting for a couple of years. The rubber had hardened and made for some scary back end out action at very low speeds. 2 new tyres solved that little problem. HTH
