keystarG60 0 Posted April 30, 2007 The rubber seal surrounding the rear quarter glass is stained with green marks. Looks horrible in some places. Looks like its mould or the remains of some car loving moss. Is there a cure for this disease? I've tried shifting it with elbow grease but it looks like its penetrated the rubber. L100PY_H 0 Posted April 30, 2007 What have you tried to remove it with? I've persevered with AG SRP and AG vinyl/rubber care after a good scrub with car shampoo and over time it is coming up shiny and the vinyl/rubber care re-nourishes the seals, stopping them from shrinking with age and letting in water. keystarG60 0 Posted May 1, 2007 Oh right. What does AG stand for? Sounds like its worth a try. Thanks Ive tried regular car shampoo, and a so called rubber cleaning product (cant remember the name of it)
L100PY_H 0 Posted May 1, 2007 AG is Auto Glym, or Meguires is good also and both available from Halfords. I actually went over the rubber with the super resin polish and then vinyl/rubber care and the cloth turned black/green taking off the years of cr#p on the rubber, but with several applications its getting there! Perseverance is the key i guess!

L100PY_H 0 Posted May 1, 2007 vwdeviant - Is that something to do with the oil in the peanuts then?
vwdeviant 0 Posted May 1, 2007 Yup apparently...... only did it once when I'd run out of blacking stuff but does work... Not sure if you need chunky to help scrub off the green though..
