trundlemouse 0 Posted May 10, 2007 I have just bought a set of 17" 7.5 17" wheels The tryes fitted are 215/45/17 All are brand new Have fitted them to the car and the rear tyres rub on the bottom of the suspension cup (below the spring) The wheels will turn but rub. I have contacted the company that supplied them and they suggested fitting 5 mil spacers. I want to know if 1. This is correct 2. Will the tyres when they heat up still clear 3. Will the flexing of car still allow clearence. 4. If the spacers are an option then obviously the wheel nuts will need to be extended Or do 215 s' not fit on a vr6 The suspension is standard and ride height. please help as £420 later and my new wheels and tyres are sat in the garage
too hot 0 Posted May 10, 2007 Hi think it may be the 45 aspect ratio thats wrong.I have 215x40x17 on 8" rims standard ride height no problems.Slight rub on full lock but thats all.I`m sure the tyres should be 40`s not 45`s.
dukest 0 Posted May 10, 2007 yeah, most common is 205/40 on 17s.. its a bit stretched but means you dont often get rubbing unless you have a wild offset..
Goldie 2 Posted May 10, 2007 yeah, most common is 205/40 on 17s. Yeah sounds like it could be the problem... You got a VR now trundlemouse??
