Spraying Grill

Anyone know of anywhere around Northampton/MK/Leighton Buzzard areas that would do a good job spraying a grill for the VR6?

 

Also i assume i can get the paint LC6U from most car shops?

do it yourself, its so easy. even Jim has managed some DIY spraying :lol: and he will admit to not being the most talented sprayer, get the primer/spray/lacquer/assorted wet n dry, from halfords.

 

much more satisfying when you do it yourself :wink:

Yes was thinking about doing it myself, i am pretty good at spraying, have done a few PC cases and i know the procedure...............Its just the time involved, Depending on how much it costs to get someone else to do it, i might give it a go.

 

So halfords will do the paint then?

halfords will mix the paint, and put it into an aerosol can. you just need the paint code, and about a tenner. i have used there paint many times, and it has allways been a very good match.

I remember being able to get the paint in the factory colors from the dealer. It came with two cans...one the actual color of the car and the other can, the clearcoat.

The dealer does it, but Halfrauds is cheaper, and equal quality.

 

tbh anywhere that mixes paint can match the colour, using the code.

 

Halfrauds was around a tenner, and VW was 15 if I remember correctly.

Might give it a go myself then.

 

How many coats did you guys give yours? I know lots of lights coats are better than a few heavy ones.

 

Do i need to sand between coats? I dont have much experience of spraying plastic, just metal.

also, dont forget to spray clear plastic primer first!

lots of thin coats and you'll be fine. if you can find a two pac laquer youll get a better result.
