Tattie 0 Posted November 2, 2003 Hi folks, What is the best way to change the cam cover gasket on a G60? Had a look today and there is so much stuff connected to the cover. What needs to come off etc? Most of the jubilee clips are the factory style Thanks
stevemac 0 Posted November 2, 2003 What needs to come off should become fairly obvious once you start the job. Easiest way would be to photograph the top of the engine before you start to dismantle the bits. Replace any hose clips with steel jubilee clips - factory ones may need to be cut off. Replace all hoses which are showing signs of wear. Maybe worth cleaning out your ISV while it's off the car.
Tattie 0 Posted November 2, 2003 Yeah thought it was going to be a bit of a pain. Not the half hour job like on my old 8 valve golf. :( Noticed a few hoses are a bit worn, which was one of the reasons I didn't start the job! How do you clean out the ISV? stevemac 0 Posted November 2, 2003 How do you clean out the ISV? So far as I'm aware you spray carb/brake cleaner onto it. Haven't done mine yet but I'm sure someone who has may reply. Try doing a search for "ISV", I think there are some threads on how to clean it.

Tattie 0 Posted November 2, 2003 Thanks for the time estimate though. Got to get loads of jubilee clips and a few new pieces of pipe too. Even noticed that brake reservoir pipe was slightly worn - god the engine must have been rocking some to do that!! Good job I had the front engine mount replaced. Put in a trimsport uprated wiring loom in instead this afternoon - I can see!!
