StuartFZR400 0 Posted May 29, 2007 As the VR6 keeps coming out at about £500 for TPFT compred to my 16v at under £300, I was wondering what else I could afford. Firstly the Honda S2000, insurance group 20, would need to be Fully Comp, and came in at a whopping £1,700 - ouch !! Then here is one that totally baffled me: BMW Z4, 3.0 Coupe, £550 with Sainsbury's then the next at £800. Now thats a little more acheivable... Thats a better deal than the Corrado VR6 on lower cover. (not sure what group the Z4 coupe is exactly, would assume group 19 but could easily be wrong). Now baring in mind that Sainsburys would probably whack on an extra £50 when you phone them up and confirm the Reg #, still not bad.
Jim 2 Posted May 29, 2007 I've been quoted less to insure a Mercedes SL55 AMG and a Porsche Cayman than it costs to insure my Corrado. Go figure :(
StuartFZR400 0 Posted May 30, 2007 Jim, thats a joke ! :joker2: I see Sainsbury's are new-ish to the market of car ins ; do they tend to target a certain list of cars to be the cheapest on? Although there was another company that was £800 on the Z4, fully comp; again thats better than what I can get a VR6 on fully-C. Im off to see how it will ever be possible to afford to buy a Z4 - LOL ps - maybe see yu at Gti Int this year
peanut 0 Posted May 30, 2007 aye, my insurance went up from my modded audi s2 to a bog stock rado vr. Could never fathom that one out
davidwort 0 Posted May 30, 2007 I think a fair bit of the premium is based on claims for and against for a particular model, not just the power/performance and type of vehicle/group. The golf 1.6 driver used to be very steep to insure, loads were being nicked for some strange reason?
