Spoiler and central locking......help!!

Recommended Posts

Ok, done a search and nothing came up....

Washed the car yesterday, put the spoiler up manually by the switch. Left it like that over night. Got in the car this morning, drove to the petrol station (the car didn't go below the spoiler deactivation speed before I got to the petrol station), the spoiler didn't have time to fully retract before switching the engine off. Paid for stuff. Got back in the car started the engine, and the central locking locked the doors, which I thought was a bit weird. Drove off the forecourt, up to 60, and the spoiler didn't come up from its half mast position after stopping at the petrol station. Tried to move it via the switch...nothing. Got to work, ignition off, then on, spoiler stioll not moving and verytime I start the car the bloody central locking locks the car. Not only that if I manually unlock the drivers door the central locking does unlock the rest of the car.

So what the hell is going on? Not checked the fuse of the spoiler yet, but are these two thing associated? Could it be an earthing problem?

Have you tried winding in the spoiler manually using the cog thing in the boot? might help reset things a little. I remember a while ago playing about with this thing and I didn't lock it back into place and my spoiler obviously wont move on the switch and sat half way up... just a guess.

as for the central locking mate, like a recently felled tree, i'm stumped!!

I had loads of electrical probs 2 months ago. Almost everything just gave up at the same time and that was after id been through the car wash the day before.

Had it all checked over and it was earth fault probs and inline fuses. I was stumped cos id checked all the ones in the dash. I wouldnt be able to tell you how to fix any though as i got a mechanic to do it. Not got the knowledge, time or patience for car electrics. Im guessing theres a logical sequence to test everything but i wudnt know where to begin.

Do the doors unlock when you switch off ?

Some alarms can be set to lock the doors while your driving.

No mate they don't. Not got that feature enabled on my Clifford as I've been in the situation where I've been locked out of the car because of it (another car, mind).

It's also odd that unlocking it via the lock pin in the car doesn't unlock the other door and boot. I never did that before.
