Kick Up The Rs 0 Posted December 2, 2007 I'm jinxed, My C has a different ign barrel lock to the doors - which i can live with I have RCL so I just have a ign key with my alarm fob. Now, the problem is I have managed to lose all my door keys (i think my youngest has put 'em in the bin). Problem is, on the lost key ring it had all the code no.s.... Cann I get replacement keys from the stealer w/o the key no.s? Does the vehicle sticker in the service manual tell me? If worst case, whats involved in fitting new tumblers to the doors an ign barrel to bring them all in-line? Please help!
Philuk 0 Posted December 2, 2007 i helped fit new tumblers to a mates MK3 polo and it was a piece of cake( similar door handles so one would presume similar tumblers) not sure about the boot one but the doors we did. im not sure if that the stealers can use the chassis/engine number from your car to get the key number, might be worth taking a trip to them to find out, only problem, are you sure it was the ignition barrel that was changed and not the entire lock set? if so you'll be getting a master key for the ignition barrel lol :)
Kick Up The Rs 0 Posted December 3, 2007 Thanks Phil, Spoke to the dealer who supplied the car new and they said the car is too old to supply new keys based on chassis no. etc. But the problem has just got worse. I managed to lose a key fob an ign key late yesterday. I think i left my C keys on the roof of my wifes car before driving off in it... So Im afraid of leaving the car on my drive now... I suppose the easy solution is to get a complete set of locks off a breaking C. So a wanted ad is going to appear! BTW I put it all down to jet lag and not resting enough!
