Heater, defroster, wipers, roof, foglights stop working

Recommended Posts

It started a few weeks ago. I was driving and stopped for gas, and when I started my car my fan motors, fog lights, wipers, sunroof, and defroster all stopped working. They turned on a few mintues later though.

Then about a week after, they did it again, but they wouldn't turn on until I disconnected my negative battery terminal. Once I reconnected it, it was fine.

The same thing happened a few days ago.

Now today it did it, and I've had the negative battery terminal disconnected, but when I reconnected it, nothing would work. I've checked all of my fuses and everything, and they're all good. Does anyone know why this can be going on?

I still have all of my main beams/tail lights, radio, windows, etc.

similar thing happened to me last year & from memory it was just a relay. there is a thread on here but it'll probs take you ages to find it. cant be certain but i think it was either relay 12 or 18, maybe 15 (if they go up that high) but then mine's a vr so might be different number relay for a g60. i'll have a look for the old one to see what number's on it alternatively find out which relay controls the things you mentioned & replace it. it cost less than a tenner so that's where i'd start.

just found my old thread & it was indeed relay number 18. the following things happened to my car was the heater went off, the abs light stayed on & the wipers stopped working & i'm sure other electrical things stopped too! changed the relay & that sorted it! hope this helps?
