Windcreen lower plastic covers removal

Trying to remove the nearside plastic cover that fits between windscreen and scuttle area, so I can fit the "incorrectly fitted cover" that is clipped above the air intake duct.

Have removed the cross head screw at the end of this bit of plastic and tryed to ease it up, but is clinging on, so don't want to break it, whats the answer?

Lots of very gentle teasing with a long strong implement!

The trim is stuck down with sealant and how much is there depends on whether a new screen has ever been fitted and what sort of a job was done :?

 

There are instructions in the knowledge base about replacing a seal in the scuttle under that bit of trim so it mentions removing the trim itself.

Shouldn't be any sealant!

 

Just some white plastic clips and plastic grommets - you will need new ones!

Thanks for that chaps, it would seem that it's been super stickied, so will wait for the weather to warm up and sort it.

As Supercharged said there shouldnt be any sealant but as most screen fitters dont have more than a couple of brain cell's to rub together they resort to PU adhesive sealant, be very carefull if you try levering it off, most of the time the trim will snap before the sealant lets go.

The best way to get it off is buy one of those cheap craft knives (the ones with the extendable snap off blades) and push the blade out all the way, this should be thin and long enough to steadily slice away at the sealant bit by bit as you lift the trim gently away without damaging the trim or the car.
