Possessed Speedo

Recommended Posts

Hi guys am a new member and hav an interesting question.

I hav a '91 Corrado G60 with a few engine mods.

Few weeks ago on a journey 2 leicester my speedo needle suddenly decided 2 flail around randomly. After a while it stopped altogether, then later it was working agen. It has done this a few times since tho most of the time it works ok. I hav read other topics on this type of problem which hav sed that its the magnetic speed sensor on the gearbox that causes it. Cud this b the problem? The other topics did not mention anythin about problems with other functions, but my mileometr and trip do not work wen the speedo is not workin, and the MFA functions do not work either. I hav spoken 2 the garage i use who are VW specialists and a guy ther with a G60 says it could b the clocks that need changin.

Any help would b appreciated.

Peter

It can be the gearbox speed sensor as mine does it but my dash functions still work, but when my car was new it had a new set of clocks after 8 k which was apparently to do with a speedo problem.

sounds like the voltage regulator in the back of the clocks, easy fix it sits on the right of the clocks at the rear of the rev counter looks like a small square with 3 legs and a heatsink at the top, should be able to get one from maplins or rs.this is what i did on my mk2 golf when my rev counter wet haywire so i guess this could be a similar fault, but no doubt i could be wrong :?
