retro fit flat wiper blades

Recommended Posts

brought some of ebay

there CRAP

had to bend the arms up to get them to wipe more than 2 inches of screen

the drivers side clears about 80% but leaves a 3inch gap in the middle

the passenger side removes the top 3 inches and the bottom 2

dont want to bend the arms any more incase the snap and gonna have to bend them back

anyway

i like ebay but this is the second crap thing in a month

eg the bulbs that dont fit anything

just thought id let you all know

Got caught by this one just this week, the wipers look excellent on, pity they don't contact the screen!!!! :D :D

Does the LUPO or TT conversion work?? Has anyone tried this? any pictures...

Yep loads of people on here run Lupo or TT arms and blades, it's a very popular conversion, most of the cars you see at shows have them on.

You can try moddifying your arms though,

Take your arms off and look at the hinged area, you will notice that when the arms are in the flat possition that the steel bit rests against a flat section of the alluminium section next to the hinge, this is what stops the arm putting enough pressure on the screen, corrado arms where borrowed from the passat parts bin while nobody was looking  so the arms work fine on the passat as the screen is more upright but as the screen on the corrado is more swept back the arms bottom out before putting any pressure on the screen.

try grinding a bit of the alluminium away so the arm moves down further and it should be ok.

I tried this before getting the Lupo arms and blades and it worked well but I prefer the look of the aero blades, they last longer and work better at high speed.

It's also about the strength of the springs in the arms, most old Corrado ones are just too tired now, astonishingly my old ones (circa 1990) still did the job pretty well but I just liked the look of the Lupos and got them for 17 quid each with blades before VW upped the prices.

I'd go for the TT ones now, the shape of the arm looks a little nicer.

And the blades have a lower profile too 8)
