Cars not selling. Reasons?

Recommended Posts

I think you'll find the insurers have to either repair your car or replace it with the equivalent,

I know of quite a few people who have told their insurance co.s to go and find them an equivalent car for the usually dismal first offer price and this usually results in a backtrack and a decent offer.

Of course there are still co's round who will argue the toss but show me a decent spec Corrado for 1600 quid.......

A better method is simply to confront them with classifieds for similar cars from the Autotrader. The fact the insurer tried to use Glasses' Guide or Parker's Guide (and hence pocket the different between trade & market sale value) can be defeated effectively if you stand your ground. BTW I've never seen an insurance company policy which obliges them to replace a car with similar in a case like this - that term usually only applies to cars that are less than a year old at the time of the write off.

HTH,

John

Thats exactly why i'll be going with a specialist insurer and be getting an agreed value policy. My valver cost me £1800, and ive spent over £2k in getting it running and looking how i want, whilst keeping it completely standard, but i know that if it was stolen tomorrow i'd be lucky to get more than £800 out of my insurers

Have you got it on Piston heads classifieds? Lots of cars sell via that site and its free unlike Autotrader..

I have been looking at the VR6 prices alot over the last few months and it does seem a touch on the high side. Recon you would get much more interest if it was £3500 - £3850
