missing crossovers

Hi

Just been doing a few jobs on the 16v I bought recently and discovered that who ever had installed the kenwood components had not used any crossovers ie they had just spliced the cables together that ran from the mids and tweeters to the head unit.

So - where can I buy crossovers (does anyone have any to sell?) - or does it really make all that of a differance?

Definetly worth getting crossovers mate, they will direct the correct frequency to the correct speaker/tweeter. You can make them yourself, buy capacitors to cut certain frequencies out. I think there`s a basic DIY guide on matey matey website. I know Maplins at the top of Lothian Rd will have them. Should only cost a few quid 8) May have to buy a few different values and try them to get best results. :scratch:

are you sure they haven't got crossovers built into them?

some pioneer and kenwood component sets have the capacitor or crossover network in the tweeter enclosure or on the back of the main drivers, i would have thought if the tweeters have been run at any decent level without any crossovers they would be completely fried by now.

usually if they didnt have crossovers then they will have a lil resistor inline for the tweeters, thats how the jbl ones come anyways :)
