RATTLING SOUND WHEN PRESSING ACCELERATOR

Hi guys--got a mk2 vr6 (corrado lump)---recently when pressing the accelerator the car is making a very weird rattling/knocking sound it seems to be coming from the small block to the left of the engine where i believe one of the vacuum pipes goes into--this block is right next to the MAF----any ideas what this could be guys???
