Changing belts - H2O pump as well?

Hi

Getting a list of parts together (via VW through parts club - I hope) as I want to change all the belts, timing/PS/Alternator and the tensioner for my 1990 16v. I'm sure I read somewhere or was told that I should change the water pump while I'm at it as there is no documented evidence of it having been done in the past. Just wondered what peoples opinion is?
