Jim 2 Posted February 23, 2003 Well I went and signed the paper work today.. I have about a week or two left with my Corrado. I can't tell you how difficult this has been to do.. I am as much an enthusiast as any of you, but I simply can't afford to go on as I am. I still plan on staying around here as much as possible.. i'm still a fan of the car even if I dont own one!! Don't go too hard on me for picking a Saxo VTR.. :|
VR6 0 Posted February 23, 2003 Sorry to hear that Jim - It must be heart-breaking! What sort of trade-in did you get?
Jim 2 Posted February 23, 2003 They gave me £2,800 and said that the car was 'very nice' and 'very clean' which was quite a nice compliment after the hours I have put into it. I was told that a VW dealer in Birmingham has already bought my Corrado off them, so should be appearing in a month or so at a VW Dealers somewhere in the area. *sigh* :(
CazzaVR 0 Posted February 23, 2003 A sad day, Jim! Good that you got the deal tied up nicely though- nothing worse than trying to sell your car for months! Who knows, maybe in a couple of years you can return to the fold with a VR6..... 8)

I'd love a nice Audi TT, Bora V6-4MOTION, or Golf R32 :) Or... a Corrado VR6 :) And for those that wanna see it, here is my new car-to-be...

joby 0 Posted February 23, 2003 Hey jim you will have to let us know how the saxo feels in comparison to the corrado ie, build quality, performance, and so on. Good luck with it :(
Jim 2 Posted February 23, 2003 Hey jim you will have to let us know how the saxo feels in comparison to the corrado ie, build quality, performance, and so on. Good luck with it :( Heh... I can't really see the Saxo being able to compete in many of those fields. But I hear its supposed to handle very tightly...
Nik Patel 0 Posted February 23, 2003 so wot car u gonna get next? surely u can get more money than that for your corrado?
Jim 2 Posted February 23, 2003 I believe its worth a little more, but there were a few little bits and pieces that needed doing before I would have felt comfortable enough selling it. I just decided to trade it in and gte my loan paid off - the trade in value was exactly what I needed to break even. I have lost a LOT of money on the Corrado (about £3000 in one year) so I just wanted it out of the way and put behind me.
Valver 0 Posted February 24, 2003  Sorry to hear that Jim. Used to see your C around Tile Hill now and again, and it used to turn my head........don't think the Saxo will have quite the same effect (not on me anyway!) :( Don't stay away from the VAG stable for too long!!....................
dan 0 Posted February 24, 2003 Yeah, sorry to hear the news m8 :( . If its any consolation, my friend has a gold saxo and he likes it. :)

I'd love a return to the VAG stable in a few years, most definately :) Hey - by the way - do you ever drive up near Warwick University, more specifically were you up near there last week? My mum mentioned that she saw a 'beautiful original golf' in a blue colour with nice alloys. She said it was absolutely spotless. Was it you?? :)
vondribbley 0 Posted February 24, 2003 Bye Bye to your C :( but hopefully not to you as I have learnt loads about Corrados from reading your posts and the replies. Hope to see you back in VAG soon :)
Jim 2 Posted February 24, 2003 Bye Bye to your C :( but hopefully not to you as I have learnt loads about Corrados from reading your posts and the replies. Hope to see you back in VAG soon :) You know what the irony is? When it comes to car problems, I am a complete lemon - I take it to garages to get even the most simple problems sorted. I have just soaked up a LOT of information from other people on both this and the Yahoo eGroup, and of course have had lots of the silly problems myself on my Corrado. Yes, I plan to stay around at least until I get another Corrado, or maybe even an Audi or something :)

Jim 2 Posted February 24, 2003 Well I am still on the lookout for a head unit.. but seriously, if its going to be a bit of a ballache to get a deal sorted then don't worry too much about it :) I'll just have to chance my arm with eBay or somethin.. too hot 0 Posted February 24, 2003 jims16v, Jim it```s no problem if you just need it to put in the car before you trade it,I can get it to you just say the word. :)
Jim 2 Posted February 24, 2003 too hot, does it have the original wiring & iso connector on the back still, and the original mounting cage to fix it into the dash? If its got that, then I am definately still interested :)
too hot 0 Posted February 25, 2003 jims16v, The stereo does have the original ISO plug in the rear of the unit the only problem the wires have been cut close in to the head unit so a few connector blocks would be needed to wire it in.To be honest if it was me and I was trading in I would just stick it in the dash to fill up the hole and it would be the dealers problem after that. :!: :!: It does have the cage and manual too.
