BLUE SMOKE OVER 55 MPH HELP PLEASE??

Hi all my 16valver has started to smoke when i get over 55mph, anything lower and its not smokin. Ive changed oil & filter flushed it all out etc etc.

 

Anyone shed any light on it or has the engine past its sell by date. 181k on the clock

What gear are you in when it starts smoking?

 

It's more likely to be to do with engine speed as opposed to road speed I would think.

 

Does it puff smoke on startup or not?

hi it smokes at 3rd gear upwards and doesnt really smoke on startup, not more than it ever has done since owning it.

Well, it definitely shouldn't be smoking on startup at all, for starters.

 

Is it when you floor the pedal that the smoke starts? Sounds like perhaps the car has been overfilled with oil, is that possible?

 

The smoke on a cold start is most likely the valve stem seals starting to go.

Hi its when you put your foot down on say the motorway quite a lot of blue smoke, its ok when pottering around town etc under 50 mph but anything over and its pretty bad.

 

Definitely not been overfilled with oil as i did it myself. Its baffling me.

its actually smoking that bad that the police would probably stop me if i was on motorway!!!!!!!

I'd check the oil level again, I've accidentally overfilled cars before!
