Engine rebuild for VR6?

Recommended Posts

Hi there

Picked up a '95M 145k corrado vr6 a couple of months ago for a price i thought was too good to be true. turns out i should have trusted my instincts as engine seems to be past its best. Running rough, burning a fair amount of oil etc. My guess is rings have gone on 1st and 6th pistons and as a recent joiner to the forum i have been flicking through the various posts trying to dig out some information on what the best place to get an engine rebuild is and what sort of costs are involved.

Most recommended options seem to be vege and stealth but seems to be varying amounts quoted for each outfit to rebuild a 2.9vr6 engine. LIke some of the others out there i'd like to keep the car as original as possible. Unless it's much much cheaper to fit a 2.8 24v vr6....what seems to be a fair price to pay to undertake a 2.9ltr 12v?

any advice much appreciated - cheers

thanks mate. couple of questions for you?

how long has the engine been out of the car?

is it a standard lump?

if you don't mind me asking how did the grey vr6 meet its end?

does it come with engine mounts?

no problem,

the engine has been ut of the car about 2 weeks, yes its a standard lump. the grey corrado met its end when it was side swiped on the rear quarter while parked up :( and i'm 99% sure that all the mounts are still on it.

if you have anymore questions please just ask.
