G60 hesitating, 3.5 bar FPR required???

Alright chaps,

I put a 65mm pulley on my 2ltr G60 at the weekend along with an SNS chip. It was set up buy a G60 specialist and made a shed load of difference. The problem now is that when i first put my foot down, when accelerating hard, the car hesitates before picking up. I have read posts that suggest to use a 3.5 bar FPR but i want to know if this is a symptom of the 3.0 FPR.

Any help will be much appreciated

What did they advise when you got your SNS chip??

Most of their chips are written with 3.5 FPRs in mind. Have you got red injectors as well? I would have thought they would be needed with your 65mm pulley.

 

Are all your vacuum lines ok, especially the one to the ECU. It should be on the top vac point on the throttle body and also be a metre long.

It only does it when i first accelerate, through the revs it seems fine.

As far as i know i have just got the standard injectors. I don't know much about the car as i haven't had it long. I will check the vacuum lines tonight, where does it go to the ecu?

I haven't actually spoken to anybody from sns, the chip was in a mates car which was scrapped at the weekend. We took it to a G60 specialist who fitted it for me and set the car up, although he was unsure of what to set the timing and CO to.

i had these same issues with my first sns with the 65. what i would say is this

 

get a 3.5bar. i thought all sns use 3.5

 

make sure it aint over fueling. whats the co_pot set to.

 

make sure the o2 probe is good and working.

 

mine did same. it would buck about the shoot off. i found if i eased in the power it was better. check the plugs. if they are black then its too rich. give um a clean with brake cleaner and a brush so they shine again. if they aint proper ones put some in.

The CO pot is set to 350 ohms? Do you know what it should be?

I'll buy a 3.5 FPR and check the plugs tomorrow. Where is the best place to pick up the 3.5 FPR?

think im right in saying people use the Porsche 944 Turbo 3.5 bar fpr........about 45 quid,Banaman on this forum would be able to get you one if you ask him nicely.........

Make your own check http://www.sns tuning.com in the diy section for the info. Or send me one and I'll do it for a tenner inc postage.

 

You cannot just wack these chips in if the car is modded. Jabba etc assume the car is otherwise standard and write the chips accordingly. Even sns tailor their chips around different specs. Best talking to Bilal, he'll be here soon I am sure.

Ok, cheers for the help chaps. I'll try and increase the fuel pressure in the one i have got, if i get stuck i'll give you a shout mate.

It's just a calibrated squeeze in a vice, won't correct a built in lack of fuel. The 65mm pulley and increase in capacity will prolly take your std injectors over the top.

350ohm is on the rich side. im running red tops so...anyway im set at about 800ohm at the moment.

 

id buy a proper reg so that u always got the std one for spare. theyre only cheap about 35 i think from bilal.

 

speak to him. tell nim the code on top of your chip then he can tell you what setup you should be running for that chip and maybe a alternative chip.

as the guys say above you need a 3.5fpr for the sns ... also if your charger is making over 16psi you really need to be running red tops too.. u really need a wideband to get this package set up properly ... also you ought to be running optimax too... hth.

ALL sns maps are designed for use with a 3.5 Bar regulator. The maps run a slower duty cycle which throws in more fuel per cycle than a standerd or usual sftermarketr chip.

If you are running it with a 3 bar reg, you are effectively running the car well on the lean side.

The odd charicteristics you have sounds like the fail safe systems on your car are working overtime retarding everything until there is surficent fuel there for it to pick up and run correctly.

If you have hastle setting it up after you have fitted a 3.5bar reg then drop me a line as we are quite conversent in setting up the SNS chips as we fit them day in, day out and I will talk you thoughit.

You put an SNS chip from another G60 into your 2litre G60......and without a 3.5bar FPR, running a 65mm pulley on a 2 litre!!!!!!!!!!

 

SHHTOPP!!

 

Our chips are not that generic, they are specifically tailored to certain mods etc, you have to use a 3.5bar fpr and being a 2litre you cannot stick in an SNS from another car (unless the other car was also a 2 litre with your mods)

 

You need: 1) The right chip 2) an Fpr 3) maybe bigger injectors depending on boost

Ahhh...pants! That'll explain the problems i'm getting then.

Ok, i'll start back at square one and sort it out stage by stage. I'll contact some of you chaps in the very near future if that is ok and see if my car can be set up correctly. The car has got a big spec but to be honest i think it should be a lot quicker than it is.

Is it a genuine 2ltr?? wrong map + wrong regulator + more cc = lean running . You WILL melt a piston which will leave you with a full bottom end rebuild to fork out for.

What do you mean by a genuine 2ltr. I have a shed load of documents to say that the engine conversion has been carried out and it does state that it is a 2ltr.

Sounds like i'm going to have to get this sorted sooner rather than later.
