Lamba Sensor & where to buy tappets & valvesprings f

Hello all

 

Just been reading the thread about the A/F meter and I have one already in my car but its never been hooked up

 

What lamba sensor can I get so that I can use it???

 

Also im looking to finish off getting all the parts i need for the 16v head rebuild for my mate and I was wandering if :-

 

You can clean up all the old parts and stick it back in???

 

or who and where would be the beast place to get them tappets ans springs???

does the 16v have a probe already?

 

if so tap into that.

No need to replace the springs unless they are broken. Tappets can be got from GSF etc.

i dont have a lamba at the mo

 

but when the car got mapped they welded a lamba bolt to my exhuast so i can put on on my car

 

Gavin cool do i need to change the valve seats?

 

and is there anything else i need? ive got the head gasket, all the seals all the valve guides (thanx to ebay it cost my mate £10 :D )

does the 16v have a probe already?

 

if so tap into that.

 

2 litre 16Vs will have a probe as they have a cat, 1.8 16Vs had nothing as complicated as a knock sensor, never mind a lambda sensor! :lol:

 

Alex, as you've never had a lambda sensor on your motor, (it did start life as a 1.8 didn't it?) you have free reign on which sensor you use... You could try and find the cheapest, or go for a wide band it depends on why you want the AF gauge... 8)

No need to change the valve seats, but you should lap the valves in to their seats with grinding paste and a stick with a sucker on the end.

 

I suggest you get yourself a book on modifying heads, it would take ages to type in all the things you need to do.

 

I don't think you need to get a wideband probe. I doubt whether your gauge is designed to read a wideband output. I may be wrong.

 

I'd get a cheap one. Your motor will be a lot less susceptable to damage from a weak mixture, compared to a G60. Thats why most of use G60 types have them, to keep an eye on the mixture during WOT.

Universal 3/4 wire would do you I guess. GSF etc sell them for about 30/40 quid. You could get one from a scrappy but there is no way to prove you'll get a good one there, without testing it. Depends on your budjet. If you go supercharged what do you mean. G60?? or summat else? Does your management support a probe it would be handy if it does.

Ok cool ill look at gsf and eurocar parts as ive seen them there

 

Also what do the three or four wires do???

 

is one meant to be a heater??

one meant to be the sensor part?

and the other the earth??

 

And how do you wire them up??

 

Also ill be slaping a supercharger to my 16v lump as its already prepared for it

 

And yes the DTA does support the Lamba sensor but again i dont know how to wire it up
