Wiring one touch window loom in a mk2, how to??

Recommended Posts

One for the wiring experts, Iv got a complete one touch window loom from a late rado and wanted to know what wires connect where, like light illumination/permanent 12v/negative etc..

Here are a few pics the wiring:

Here is a Red wire which i think will be perm 12v, a brown/white, a red/black, a red/brown and a red/yellow which i have no idea what they are for.

Here is a long brown/white

There are two sets of these and im thinking they go the window regulators, a set for the drivers window and a set for the passenger window.

The also appears to be a red/brown & black/yellow wire leading into a plug which im not sure about either.

Any help to help me wire this in will be greatly appreciated :)

do you not have the connector blocks that plug into the back of the factory door switches?

I have a passat and corrado loom at home and a bunch of switches and connector plugs hacked off passat looms, it was easy enough to get the whole lot working with a spare car battery the control box and two spare doors I have in the garage, just to test everything would work when installed.

I can take some pics of the loom and connector/switch wires if you like, but can't remember how to wire off the top of my head. The passat haynes manual had pretty much all the info I needed in the wiring diagrams.

The important thing for me was that the control box system has one fewer wire to each window switch compared to a direct wired system as you are jsut sending a signal to the box, not directly powering the window motors through the switches.

pink passat 1988-92 Haynes manual (out of print I think but pop up on e-bay, car boots etc), bit confusing as the diagrams cover 4 door electric window circuit, but I worked it out easily enough from the haynes diagrams and I'm no electrician :)
