Cone filter for a valver??????

Does anyone do a nice cone filter a 2.0 16v ? Rather than a replacement filter, cheers Mike

You can't fit a cone filter to the 2.0 16v (9a) or the 1.8 (KR), as the air going int othe engine has to be measures using the metering head. The Mk3 ABF engine on the other hand can use a cone filter, as it uses a MAF rather than the metering head.

Stroeve Motorsport induction kit. Basically replaces the bottom part of the airbox but the mass on top with the metering head and injector lines, etc remain and the cone filter is hidden underneath. Sort of defeats the point of the exercise IMHO.

 

So really you're stuck with a panel filter i'm afraid :(

Another alternative is the Pipercross induction box.

It's a foam filter in a steel frame that replaces the air box.

Gives a lovely induction roar and lets the engine breath a little easier.

 

 

If i remember correctly, Flusted has experimented with fitting cone filters to valvers in the past.

You might wish to PM him for more info.

I've seen it done before with an adapter plate bolted to the metering head (instead of the top portion of the airbox).

Attached to the plate was a collar then a 90 degree elbow with the cone filter attached facing forwards.

The metering head was held in it's original place with metal brackets that were bolted to the inner wing.
