renson 0 Posted September 19, 2008 Don't know if this is any good to anybody but the other day my bonnet wouldn't open because the clip that holds the outer cable cover had broken. As many are aware VW made this part obsolete in 2006 so the only way to get it is by paying nearly £30 for the complete cable :censored. If it has attached correctly below is a quick write up of how i spent £1.69 in hafords and about half an hour to get things working again. I Know the bonnet is Exterior but the Handle is Interior so wasn't sure where to post! sorry if its wrong Quote Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

renson 0 Posted September 19, 2008 Did you find that your handle didn't spring back correctly? I have to push mine back before i close the bonnet. Thats the only issue i have :( Was thinking of modifying it further and making a spring mount to the handle but at the moment at least it's fixed. Funnily enough, my local garage made something similar when I couldn't get into mine a couple fo years ago. Now mines the same, I have to push it back before I close the bonnet. coolrado 0 Posted September 19, 2008 yeah mine did that at first, but it was caused by the cable being kinked slightly where it entered the cable clip, I just used another nut to space the clip out a little so it lined up with the cable, also make sure there are no bends in the cable and run some light oil down the cable guide tube, it makes it much smoother to release, i think the main reason the crappy clips break is the cable getting stiff and putting too much strain on the clip.
